I'm really getting this doubt when I see the face of autowalas the moment I utter this word. Even worse the way they accelerate and run for their life without even giving a second look.. On an average, I need to ask 30-40 autos(no exaggeration) to finally get a ride or on some unlucky days need to walk the entire 4 km distance!!!
real life experience
yours truly and friends wanted to go to the same place...
asked like 6-7 autos
Finally one of us gals asked in a very sweet tone,
"Bhaiya, brigade road, bangalore central, garuda mall"
Take us wherever you'll go to...
The auto driver was caught quite off guard and he smiled and obliged
We stopped him near cauvery emporium , paid him and didn t wait to hear what else he head to say.
Hey i have had that problem too...when ever i come to bangalore..Never really understood wy.. :)
Hey are u a professional photographer??? ur awesome...
I dont think its just M.G. Road. Ever try going to the Domlur Overpass ? They give you a look that says: are you crazy ???
I think the MG road aversion is due to the pre-paid counter set-up there...
I've seen the traffic police diverting them to the counter during peak hours.
Obviously the autowallas wouldn't want to miss a chance to loot people, by riding pre-paid...
All the efforts made to rig the meter and bargaining would be futile...
This is just an observation... I'm not quite sure...
hmmm ... i've stopped using autos to go to office (mg road), however bad my bike's condition is, but mostly due to the return journey :)
but i guess for me, therez always some auto guys wanting to go towards ulsoor / indira nagar and usually i get one from rt nagar :)so, havent had much trouble to get to mg road. getting back is another story though!
Today morning I have had at least 7 autowallahs slowing down and looking at me expectantly when I was waiting for the bus.
Ahh.. the power you feel in ignoring them... ;) :) Of course, I never get an auto when I need one...
It must be close to where you are. They tend to refuse short distance fares.
@ jj : Ha ha that was brilliant.. May be I should try it next time :P
@ swathi : How I wish I knew the reason :(
And thanks a lot for the compliments :) I'm not even close to a professional photographer :)
@ Alex Mcone : Yeh I know there r even more much 'God-forbidden places'. When does this change?
@ jj : That might also be one reason. But think it's mainly coz of short distance and they won't get a ride back to their 'own place'. These ppl generally go only to places next to their home !!!
@ sandeep : Ha forget the return journey. I don't even try to find an auto then. Mostly I walk back home. But morning it's difficult especially if you have to walk with the laptop :(
@ sini : hmm lucky gal.. Think I should shift near to ur house :P
@ anil p : Yep. It's less than 4 kms :(
Yeah, I've had such problems too...THats why i prefer takin my 2 wheeler and face the parking problems instead! ;)
One of my colleague friends has this unique way of hiring autos.. so he says some weird name like 'Bride's street' or something, with a stress which makes it sound like some Uganda. And all that the poor auto driver manages to say is a meek, 'aapko rasta pata he?' and it's meter down! :)
Oh yes--I HATE the public transport system 9read Autos) in India.
Loved your photos..Left a comment there too.
Nice to meet you!
i have often faced this issue. There was one desp condition that asked the auto guy "Then you tell me where you would go to!!!! "
It's so irritating!
good blog dear friend
keep up with the good work
if time permist see my blog too
just into blogging now
I am not really surprised, what with all the metro construction!
@ Impressionist : I used to use a two wheeler before, but got fed up of the traffic n one ways and finally sold it out :(
@ usha : aha that's a clever way.. may be I should try it sometimes :P
@ Life Rocks : Yes I know. Many a times I get fed up of asking only :(
@ Renin Raj : Thanks a lot. Will surely visit yours n welcome to the blogging world. :)
@ Candid Confessions : It was no better before also, but now it's worse..
I think this is after that Namma metro work started there. They have to go round and the traffic snarls are painful around there.
